Triển lãm trưng bày các bức ảnh thành phố Amsterdam trong quá khứ và hiện tại, thể hiện việc Amsterdam phát triển mở rộng, xây dựng cơ sở hạ tầng, quy hoạch đô thị và sử dụng mặt nước sẵn có như thế nào trong 40 năm qua. Triển lãm cũng trưng bày các bức ảnh và video clip xuất sắc nhất của các em học sinh trường Hà Nội – Amsterdam chụp và thực hiện trong cuộc thi do Sứ quán Hà Lan phát động, thể hiện góc nhìn riêng của các em với Hà Nội cũng như vai trò của nước trong thành phố. Lễ trao giải sẽ diễn ra ngay trong buổi khai mạc triển lãm.

Trường THPT chuyên Hà Nội – Amsterdam được thành lập với sự hỗ trợ của người dân thành phố Amsterdam. Ngài Samkalden, cố Thị trưởng thành phố Amsterdam đã phát động một phong trào kêu gọi người dân Amsterdam đóng góp xây dựng một trường trung học tại Hà Nội để thể hiện sự ủng hộ với người dân Hà Nội trong thời gian chiến tranh chống Mỹ. Ngôi trường được đặt tên là Hà Nội-Amsterdam, năm học chính thức đầu tiên bắt đầu vào ngày 5 tháng 9 năm 1985.

Trong những năm qua, Việt Nam đã trở thành một đối tác quan trọng với Hà Lan trong quản lý nước. Hai nước đã trở thành đối tác chiến lược trong quản lý nước tổng hợp. Quan hệ đối tác này là phương cách hợp tác mới trong đó chính phủ, chuyên gia và các nhà nghiên cứu hai nước cùng phối hợp hành động để đề ra các giải pháp khả thi cho chiến lược quản lý nước bền vững, lâu dài.

On 21 November, the Netherlands Embassy in Hanoi in association with the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted will open the exhibition: Hanoi-Amsterdam: Water in the City. This exhibition is part of the celebration of 40 years of diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and Vietnam which is taking place this year.

The exhibition will include pictures of the old and new Amsterdam that show how the city of Amsterdam dealt with water in the city in terms of infrastructure, urban planning and water management in the past 40 years. In addition to that, we have asked the students of the Hanoi-Amsterdam School to join a photo contest in which they take pictures of how they view their city and of the role that water plays. The student’s pictures will also be displayed at the exhibition and the prize ceremony for the best pictures will take place during the opening of the exhibition.

The Hanoi-Amsterdam School was founded with the support of the people of the city of Amsterdam. It was the former mayor of Amsterdam, Mr Samkalden, who started a campaign to mobilize his people to donate for the establishment of a high school in Hanoi to express their support to the citizens of Hanoi during the American War. The result of this campaign was the founding of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School. The official commencement of the first school year at Hanoi – Amsterdam High School was on September 5th 1985.

Over the years, Vietnam has become an important partner on water management for the Netherlands. The Netherlands and Vietnam are strategic partners regarding integrated water resources management. This partnership is all about the new way of working where Dutch and Vietnamese government, experts and researchers jointly look into feasible solutions for long term strategies.
